RIMS's patient out of hunger ate rice which was thrown for birds in the OPD complex compound. Fhilip, who was there in the hospital from several days for treatment cannot move as there is rod fixed in one of his legs.

Ranchi: A patient in Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) in Jharkhand out of hunger ate rice which was thrown for birds in the OPD complex compound.

Philip, who was there in the hospital from the past several days for treatment was starving for food.

He cannot move as there is rod fitted in one of his legs and therefore, it is not feasible for him to even go outside and have food.

When ETV Bharat tried to talk to him, Philip was not in a condition to express himself.

RIMS Director, Dr D K Singh said: "I have seen that visuals. I have inquired about it. And I have asked if no one was with the patient then why was he discharged? They will inform me about the scenario."

Earlier, a similar incident took place on 9 January, when a woman out hunger tried to eat a live pigeon in the orthopedic department corridor.
