Pakur (Jharkhand): Veteran Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Simon Marandi died in Kolkata's Rabindranath Tagore International Institute Of Cardiac Sciences last night after a prolonged illness.
He was 73.
The leader had been suffering from heart-related ailments and was undergoing treatment in the hospital for the past month.

Simon was a two-time MP from Rajmahal region, five-time MLA and Minister of State of Jharkhand.
Due to popularity among the masses, the people of the area used to call him 'Dada'.
Simon had worked towards strengthing the party hold in Pakur, Sahibganj, Dumka, Godda, Jamtara, Deoghar and was instrumental in bringing many people into the party fold.
Many political parties including Congress have expressed grief over the demise of the leader and described his death as an irreparable loss to the state.

Meanwhile, his family has informed that the leader would be cremated on April 14 near his ancestral house at Tal Pahari Dumariya in Littipara block.
