Jamtara (Jharkhand): As many as three women died when a mine collapsed in at Narayanpur block in Jharkhand's Jamtara district on Monday.
The mishap took place when some women were involved in extracting white soil from the mine.
As per reports, locals informed the administration about the incident after which dead bodies were recovered from the debris using an excavator.
The incident occurred when women were digging the mine. As of now, three dead bodies have been recovered and the rescue operation is underway, said the District Commissioner who reached the spot after the incident.
Hearing about the incident, local MLA Irfan Ansari reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, he said that there has been a public and the administration's lapse in this incident.
The MLA also spoke of providing proper compensation to the families of the deceased.
It is to be mention here that ETV Bharat had earlier reported about the illegal extraction of soil and brought in the notice of administration but no action was taken.
