Ranchi: A CRPF constable-guard of the 7th Battalion was killed during an encounter by Naxals in Jharkhand on Monday morning, officials said. The operation took place at 6:15 am in Belbha Ghat area of the state.
The official reported that the CRPF took on Maoists in the forested area and brought down three of the Naxalites in the encounter.
One AK-47 Rifle along with four pipe bombs and three magazines were recovered from the encounter site.
The officials are further investigating the matter.
CRPF Inspector General Sanjay A Latkar said that the body of the CRPF trooper, Vishwajeet Chauhan, who was killed in the gunfight will be sent to his native land in Assam.
