Journalist bodies including the Press Association, Press Club of India, Editors Guild, and Indian Women's Press Corps were present in the meeting held at Press Club of India in New Delhi.

Vineeta Pandey, General Secretary, Indian Women's Press Corps said, "We condemn the restrictions on the media in Jammu and Kashmir, which prevents it from carrying out its duties."

"Unilateral action of PCI chairman in seeking intervention on behalf of PCI in a petition filed by Kashmir Times Executive Editor Anuradha Bhasin in Supreme Court is condemnable," she added.

Urmilesh Singh, a senior journalist, said that the PCI chairman should call an emergency meeting of the PCI 28-member committee, and also withdraw the petition filed by him in the Supreme Court in the case.

The application filed in the Supreme Court by the PCI seeks intervention in the petition filed by Anuradha Bhasin, Executive Editor of Kashmir Times, in which she had sought the removal of restrictions on communication which she said were coming in the way of journalists' right to exercise their profession.
