Jharkhand: Armed dacoits loot a family in Dhanbad

Armed dacoits looted a family in the Dhanbad district after taking them hostage at gunpoint. They also open fire and critically wounded the house owner, who resisted the attempt to rob. The injured man was admitted to SNMMCH hospital.

Dhanbad (Jharkhand): Armed dacoits on Saturday night looted a family in the Dhanbad district after taking them hostage at gunpoint.

The miscreants also opened fire at the house owner, who resisted the dacoity. The injured man was admitted to SNMMCH hospital.

According to police, as many as eleven armed dacoits entered the house of Santosh Singh at Alakdiha OP village and held the family members at gunpoint.

They looted cash and assets worth over Rs 50,000. When Santosh resisted their attempt, one of them shot him. Despite this, Santosh and his family managed to overpowered one of the miscreants and handed him over to the police.

Santosh Singh said, "As soon as I woke up from sleep at around 1 in the night, I saw that about seven people entering the house and taking out the goods. Four of them were standing outside the house. They managed to take away the assets of about Rs 50,000."

Meanwhile, the police have registered an FIR in the matter and further investigation is underway.
