Chennai: Jharkhand Education Minister Jagarnath Mahto who tested positive for COVID-19 will undergo lung transplantation.
Mahto is on life support at a Chennai hospital. The minister was airlifted to Chennai on October 19 for better medical attention after developing complications in the respiratory system.
Commenting on the health condition of Jharkhand Minister Jagarnath Mahto, MGM Hospital pulmonologist Suresh Rao said, “Last month he was tested positive for Coronavirus. He had difficulty in breathing due to the low oxygen level in his blood.
''He has been put on a life support system (ECMO treatment) at MGM Hospital. He is currently undergoing lung transplant surgery. We believe that his condition will improve after the surgery," said Rao.
