Dumka (Jharkhand): The police in Jharkhand's Dumka district imposed a fine on a government vehicle for allegedly becoming part of a marriage procession and violating social distancing norms.
According to reports, Dumka police stopped the groom's car, seeing the Government of India plate attached to it.
Following this, police took the car driver to the police station and questioned the government vehicle's involvement in the marriage procession. The vehicle was coming from West Bengal's Rampurhat to Dumka.
On being interrogated by police, the driver said that the car owner asked him to take the vehicle in the marriage procession.
Meanwhile, police imposed a Rs 2000 fine on the driver and released the car by detaching the Government of India plate from it.
Speaking to media persons, Dumka District magistrate Chandradev Kisku said that using government vehicles in marriage parties or other personal works is violation of laws.
