Ranchi: An application seeking the release of the passport of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav was accepted by the Special CBI Court on Saturday. The petition was filed by advocate Ananth Kumar. After hearing the matter, the CBI court issued an order for releasing the passport of former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD national president Lalu Prasad Yadav. Lalu's application seeking the release of his passport was accepted on health grounds.
Lalu Prasad was convicted in the multi-crore fodder scam case. At present, he is out on bail on the health grounds. While granting bail to the senior RJD leader, the court had given instructions not to go abroad without taking the court's permission. His passport was taken by the probe agency when he returned from Singapore after undergoing a kidney transplant. But on health grounds, the RJD leader's lawyer urged the CBI court for releasing the passport, so that he (Lalu Prasad) could go abroad for a follow-up check-up. The court has accepted the application, giving the order for the release of the passport.

Apart from this, whenever Lalu Prasad goes out of the country for treatment, he is supposed to inform the CBI court in Ranchi. Earlier, when Lalu Prasad Yadav went to Singapore for treatment, his passport was released by the court's order. After his return from Singapore, he submitted his passport to the court.
