Ranchi: The CPI-Maoist top Naxalite organisation in the country, wants the release of political prisoners jailed amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In a letter written in Telugu, the top central committee of CPI Maoists has made this demand.
In a two-page letter written in the Telugu language, the Supreme Committee of the Maoists wrote that Gautam Naulakha, a Maoist ideologue and poet Barbara Rao, who was allegedly called Urban Naxalites after the Bhima Koregaon incident, has been in jail since 2014.

Political prisoners such as Professor GN Saibaba of Delhi University and scholar Anand Teltun Bade should be freed from prison in this difficult time of corona pandemic.
This letter has been issued in Telugu in the name of Abhay, the authorized representative of the Central Committee of CPI Maoists. Officers of the Intelligence Department of the Jharkhand Police have also received the letter.
According to Jharkhand Police ADG Murari Lal Meena, the biggest responsibility before the police at the present time is to save the people from the corona epidemic, on which the Jharkhand Police is working successfully but the Naxalites do not think that this will slow down the campaign against them.
There is a continuous campaign against them and this is the reason that during the lockdown, the Naxalites are being killed and caught, ADG added.
The war against Naxalites is going on continuously even during the lockdown. During this time, the Jharkhand Police has also lost two of its soldiers, but the soldiers have shown their valour and killed six Naxalites in only two encounters in the last two weeks, ADG Murari Lal added.
This is the clear message for the Naxalites that they are not a political prisoner who should be given any consideration on their release, ADG said.
