New Delhi: The six-member committee, which was to visit the site of the killing of seven villagers in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, submitted its report to BJP president J P Nadda on Wednesday.

Nadda had formed the committee, consisting of five tribal MPs - Jasvantsinh Bhabhor, Samir Oraon, Bharti Pawar, Gomti Sai and John Barla - and an MLA of the party from the state, last week with instructions to submit its report on the matter within a week.

MP Samir Oraon to ETV Bharat

After submitting the report to the BJP chief, MP Samir Oraon told ETV Bharat that they visited the place where the killing took place and submitted the report to the party president.

"The killings are a matter of concern and we will discuss the issue with Union Home Minister Amit Shah also," he said, adding that the committee would meet President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday.

The BJP MP also accused the state government of inaction.

"The state government was not doing anything and there's no law and order," he said.

Supporters of ''Pathalgarhi'' movement, a tribal protest which seeks autonomy for village sabhas (Gramsabhas), armed with lathis and axes, kidnapped seven villagers and killed them on Tuesday last for allegedly opposing their stir. Those demanding Pathalgarhi want no laws of the land be applicable on the tribal people in the area. The Pathalgarhis reject government rights over their forests and rivers.
