Bihar, Jharkhand security forces searching for elusive woman commander of Maoists

Security forces from Bihar and Jharkhand are on the lookout for a woman, who helped in arranging the escape of top Maoist leaders Pramod Mishra and his associate Ram Babu Ram from Chhakarbandha.

Palamu (Jharkhand): Security forces from Bihar and Jharkhand are on the lookout for a woman, who helped in arranging the escape of top Maoist leaders Pramod Mishra and his associate Ram Babu Ram from Chhakarbandha. Chhakarbandha is the Maoists-affected area in Gaya district of Bihar. The woman in question is Shweta. She hails from Chhapra in Bihar.

Maoist commander Ram Babu Ram was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) of Bihar from Bagaha. Two AK 47 rifles had been recovered from his possession. Ram Babu Ram was interrogated by the security forces of Jharkhand and Bihar, which led to the revelation of the woman's name.

In June 2022, a top Maoist leader Sandeep Yadav was killed in Chhakarbandha operation. The security forces carried out a major operation in Chhakarbandha, which led to the fleeing of Maoist Politburo member Pramod Mishra and State Area Committee member Ram Babu Ram, to n​orth Bihar.

At least five to seven ultras also fled with them. The woman whose name is Shweta was instrumental in making their escape successful. She holds the status of zonal commander in the CPI (Maoist) organisation. She was active in the Maoist squad for several years and security forces have the least information about her.

Her husband had died in an encounter with the police a few years ago. The woman played a crucial role in aiding top commanders of the CPI (Maoist) in the areas of Chhakarbandha, north Bihar and Saranda (Jharkhand) in arranging their escape. According to sources from the security agencies, the woman may be hiding in the area of ​​Saranda (Jharkhand) or north Bihar.
