Babulal Marandi files caveat in apex court regarding defection case

In connection with the defection case, senior BJP leader and former chief minister of Jharkhand Babulal Marandi filed a caveat in the apex court urging to hear his side of the story also before reaching to any conclusion in the case.

Ranchi: Jharkhand BJP leader Babulal Marandi filed a caveat in the Supreme Court on Wednesday urging the top court to hear his side of the story also before reaching to any conclusion in defection case.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Marandi's Advocate RN Sahay said, "We have filed a caveat in the Supreme Court. We urged the court that if Jharkhand assembly speaker challenges the high court's interim stay on the notice served to BJP leader Babulal Marandi then his side of the story should also be heard."

Earlier, the high court had stayed the notice served in the matter till January 13 and asked the Speaker's tribunal to not initiate any action against Marandi.

It is pertinent to mention here that Marandi was sent a notice for the violation of anti-defection law on the application of JMM legislature Bhusan Tirkey on December 17.

Marandi's political party JVM had won three seats in the 2019 assembly elections, and he had merged his party with the BJP in February.
