Gwalior: Dhananjay and Soni Majhi who travelled 1150 km on a scooter to take the Diploma in Elementary Education test have been gifted with air tickets, Priti Adani, chairperson of the industrial conglomerate Adani Foundation said.
Saluting the spirit of the husband and wife, Ms Adani sent them air tickets to fly out of Gwalior.
Since there's no direct flight from Gwalior to Ranchi, they will have to go through Hyderabad from where they will take the road to Godda district.
The Adani group said arrangements have also been made to transport the couple's two-wheeler.
Speaking to ANI, Dhananjay said, "We never boarded a plane in our lives. We thank Adani Foundation for the support. I also want to thank the media for covering my story and supporting me for this act."

"I want to become a teacher and I am pursuing a Diploma in Education. My husband and family have supported me a lot. We arranged some money after selling our gold ornament but the money was not enough to travel by bus so we decided to travel on the two-wheeler," Soni told ANI.
"We had suffered a lot while travelling to Gwalior due to rain but I am glad that we will go by plane," added Soni.
The couple had covered 1,150 km on a scooter from Jharkhand to Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior on the two-wheeler after their train was cancelled.
Facing financial crisis after being sacked from his job in Gujarat amid the COVID-19 lockdown, Dhananjay was not able to buy his bus tickets.
However to fulfil his wife's dream to be a teacher he took the risk of driving her to the exam centre, which was 1,150 km away.
Sharing his experience, Dhananjay said, "After we informed about her examination date, I was seeking for a bus ticket but due to the COVID-19 pandemic they charged Rs 30,000 for two travellers which at present is impossible for me to spend. Then I looked for the train, but in the end, the train got cancelled. Finding no other way, I took the ride from Godda to Gwalior city."

"My wife wants to be a teacher and it is my duty to fulfil her will," said Dhananjay.
The couple had to mortgage their possessions to spend money on fuel and food during the three-day-long journey.
While speaking to ETV Bharat, Soni Majhi had said, "It was really tough for me to continue a three-day-long journey on a two-wheeler as I am pregnant. Besides the roads were not good and it was raining, with a minimum amount of food and other resources it was really hard to complete the whole journey".
Dhananjay who was unemployed for three months set an example for the society by taking a step ahead to support his wife in her dream of empowerment.
