Srinagar: Five days after going missing during the Uttarakhand glacier burst, the body of a Kashmiri engineer was found on Friday near the project site.

Basharat Ahmad Zargar, who was working as a senior engineer at the Rishi Ganga power project in Uttarakhand was a resident of Soura area of Srinagar.

Confirming the death of his brother, Asif Ahmed Zargar who is in Uttarakhand, told ETV Bharat that the body will be brought to Srinagar after the completion of all the formalities.

The senior engineer had gone missing from Uttarakhand glacier burst site on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the death toll in the Uttarakhand glacier burst incident reached 37 on Friday.

As many as 36 bodies have been recovered from different areas hit by the glacier burst in Chamoli district, while 204 people are still missing.

Uttarakhand Director-General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar has said that 168 people are still missing following the glacier burst.
