Budgam: Two brothers from Central Kashmir’s Budgam District have successfully developed a mobile application for short video clips, an alternative to the Chinese TikTok, which was recently banned by the government of India due to “security” reasons amid a border faceoff in the Ladakh region.
The new App named “Nucular” is now available on the Google Play Store.
Muhammad Farooq Wani, a software engineer and his younger brother Tipu Sultan Wani, an MBA and a diploma holder in software, has successfully developed as many as three mobile applications so far. “Nucular”, an alternative to Chinese TikTok, is the latest creations by the two brothers. More than a hundred people have downloaded this application on their mobile phones, in just a few days.
Earlier, the Wani brothers had developed two mobile Apps, “Document Scanner” and “File SHAREit tool” as an alternative to Chinese SHAREit and Cam Scanner, respectively.
Pertinently, the government of India blocked as many as 224 Chinese mobile applications, including TikTok, in recent months, following the border flare-up between India and China at Gulwan Valley of Ladakh.
TikTok was one of the famous and largely used mobile applications in India. Masses as well as the many film stars were mostly using this App before it was declared banned.
The phrase 'Necessity is the mother of invention’ proved right again. The ban on TikTok had created the necessity for an alternative App and the two brothers took the lead to invent one.
“File SHAREit tool” and the “Document Scanner tool”, the two Apps Wani brothers had developed earlier are also available at the Google Play Store.

The “File SHAREit tool” has already been downloaded by more than ten thousand people so far. It has got 4.1 as a rating by the users. The “Document Scanner tool” has been downloaded by more than a hundred people so far. Both the mobile Apps have got appreciative comments by the users of these Apps.
Prime Minister Modi, in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ a radio programme hosted by him, has also appreciated the two Kashmiri brothers for developing the alternate to the Chinese Apps.
While talking to ETV Bharat, Tipu Sultan Wani said that they got the idea of developing the alternate mobile applications soon after the government blocked the Chinese apps. He said, “People appreciated our work. After seeing our previous Apps, many people asked us to try developing an alternative App to the TikTok, as well. We completed this project of developing the “Nucular” App in a month. We have formed the module of this App in a way that it can be used on 2G internet speed as well. “Nucular” works as TikTok does. However, it is designed and developed differently. We have added some exclusive features to this App and we will be upgrading it again, in near future.”
Wani added, “After having five hundred or more followers on this App, a user’s account will be activated. Through this App, the users can get a chance to earn up to Rs 2,000 as well.”
In his message to the youth of Kashmir, Wani says, “The unemployment is growing day by day and we need to find creative ways for our livelihood and to benefit others.”
