Two children die of severe cold in Jammu and Kashmir

In a tragic incident, two children died of severe cold in Brinal Lammar area in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district. The deceased kids have been identified as 10-year-old Sahil Zabiar and 6-year-old Shazia Jan.

Kulgam: Two children of a Bakerwal family died of severe cold in Brinal Lammar area of Devsar in Kulgam district on Monday.

The Bakerwal family from Reasi were living in a temporary tent in Kulgam under the open sky.

The deceased kids have been identified as 10-year-old Sahil Zabiar and 6-year-old Shazia Jan.

While Sahil died in the tent because of the low temperature, Shazia was shifted to the district hospital in Anantnag where she died later.

Devsar Tehsildar Abdul Rashid said that the department had asked the families to shift to some other place due to the cold wave but they refused to listen.

Kashmir has been reeling under a severe cold wave for a week now as mercury remained several degrees below the freezing point across the valley.
