The family on return to Gondola Phase 2nd lost their way and got stuck in Kongdori area.

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday rescued a tourist family from Telangana after the visitors lost their way at high altitude Kongdori area of famous tourist spot Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said. A spokesman for Baramulla District Police on Friday said that a team of police rescued the tourist family which had arrived in Gulmarg and went for a Gondola ride to Kongdori, in the upper reaches of Gulmarg.

As per the police spokesman, the family comprised of three adults and four kids from Telangana. While on return to Gondola Phase 2nd they lost their way and got stuck in Kongdori area, said a police spokesperson in a statement issued to the media. “Acting upon this, police rescue teams of PS Gulmarg led by SHO PS Gulmarg Insp Irshad with the assistance of ATVs and Pony Walas were formed who followed around the Kongdori area and finally reached at the location of the tourist family and rescued them from the area and brought them back to Gulmarg safely”, the police spokesman said.

The tourist family, as per the police spokesman, expressed their gratitude towards Baramulla Police for timely help. Pertinently, in a similar operation, the Jammu and Kashmir police had on Jan 28 rescued a missing Norwegian tourist from the forests of Drung. As per a police spokesman, the foreign tourist identified as Oeyvind Aamot of Norway had lost his track while skiing and got stuck in the slopes of the Khar Nallah forest of Drung in Gulmarg.
