Srinagar: Three security force personnel were injured in an encounter with militants in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, police said.

Earlier, in the day there were reports that an Army jawan was martyred and one terrorist was killed in the encounter between security forces and terrorists in Gusoo village.

However, Inspector General of Police has now clarified that two army soldiers and a policeman have been injured.

According to a police official, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Goosu village of Pulwama following information about presence of terrorists there.

He said the search operation turned into an encounter after terrorists opened fire towards security forces positions in which one police and one army jawan got injured.

Earlier, on July 4 two unidentified militants were killed in an encounter in South Kashmir's Kulgam district. An Army man was also injured in the gunfight.

The encounter started after security forces got an input about the presence of terrorists at Arrah area in Kulgam.

Few days before this, the militant responsible for the killing of a six-year-old boy and a CRPF jawan in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir was gunned down in an encounter with security forces in the Malbagh area of the city.

The militant -- identified as Zahid Dass affiliated with Jammu Kashmir Islamic State -- was behind the attack on a CRPF party at Bijbehara in south Kashmir on June 26.
