Baramulla: Three militants were killed in an ongoing encounter that raged between security forces and militants in Gulshan Abad Reban village of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district
Security personnel launched a cordon and search operation around midnight following information regarding the presence of militants, a police official said.
Official sources said that an encounter broke out between militants and government forces after contingents of Army’s 22 RR, SOG Sopore and 179 BN of CRPF, 177 BN, 92 BTN, Baramulla QRT and Police cordoned off the Reban village.

Earlier on July 11, two terrorists were killed as the Army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Naugam sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Army said that troops laid an ambush after the suspicious movement was detected along the Line of Control (LoC). In the encounter that followed, two infiltrators were gunned down. Arms and ammunition, including two AK-47 rifles, were recovered.
Meanwhile, GoC 19 Infantry Division Kashmir Major General Virendra Vats said that the launch pads across the LoC are fully active and terrorists are making attempts to infiltrate into India.
He said that somewhere around 250-300 terrorists are ready at the launch pads across the LoC fully facilitated and supported by the Pakistan army.
On June 25, two terrorists were neutralised while one CRPF personnel succumbed to his injuries in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Sopore.
The CRPF personnel was injured when the terrorists fired at the cordon party and later succumbed to his injuries.
