Terrorists attack CRPF party in South Kashmir's Pulwama

Srinagar: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel was injured on Monday when militants attacked a joint party of the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.

Police said militants fired at the joint party of the CRPF and police in Gangoo area. "One CRPF jawan was injured and shifted to hospital. The area has been cordoned off for searches," police said.

An assistant sub-inspector of CRPF was also injured on Sunday when militants hurled a grenade at a posse of the CRPF in Tral town of the same district.

A senior army officer told reporters that around 200 terrorists are still active in Kashmir and the majority of these are non-locals belonging to Pakistan.

Earlier, on October 5, two Central Reserve Police Force personnel were killed and three others injured as terrorists opened fire on a road opening party (ROP) on the Pampore Bypass near Srinagar. Officials said two bike-borne Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants opened fire on personnel of the 110 Battalion of the CRPF stationed on the outskirts of Srinagar.

Similarly, on September 22, a CRPF jawan was injured and his service rifle taken away by terrorists in an attack in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. The terrorists shot at and injured the CRPF jawan of 110 battalions at Kaisermulla in Budgam district. The terrorists also reportedly decamped with the service weapon, an AK assault rifle, of the injured jawan, who was hospitalised.
