Anantnag: People in Anantnag are facing severe difficulties due to power breakdown and people have expressed anger towards the power department for their predicament. The people said that the situation of electricity was the same as 30 years ago and the department is still working with the same approach.
Power breakdown has started in Anantnag even before the onset of winter. Electricity has been made scarce in Anantnag and other towns.
People in several areas of south Kashmir, including Anantnag district, have been disturbed by the inconsistent power supply for the past several days. According to people, unscheduled power cuts have caused huge losses not only to the general public but also to students and businessmen. People said that every month they pay a lot of money to the department in the form of payment of electricity bills, but in spite of this, they are provided with an inadequate power supply.

Kashmir Valley's power department is still in the position it was in 30 years ago. The power situation is the same as it was 30 years ago and the department has not made any progress till date which is costing the people dearly.
Meanwhile, Assistant Executive Engineer, Power Department, Wajid Khan said that power supply to Mir Bazar, Wanpoh, Gopalpura grade and receiving stations has been affected due to necessary repairs and the power supply is expected to improve from Sunday.
