Srinagar: Giving nearly a week moratorium to Jammu and Kashmir police, a Srinagar court has on Monday sought a report regarding Akali Dal leader Majinder Singh Sirsa, J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina and social media user Aman Bali for spreading lies against Kashmiris and disturbing communal harmony in the Valley.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Farooq Ahmed Bhat, during the first hearing of the case, asked Station House Officer (SHO) Saddar Police Station to submit a report on the matter by July 17.

"If he (SHO) fails to do so, legal action will be taken against him," he added.

On July 4, a student activist Nasir Khuehami filed a petition in the court seeking registration of a case against Sirsa, Raina and Bali.

In his petition through his lawyer, Khuehami had claimed that Sirsa, Raina and Bali have tried to disturb law and order in the Valley by spreading lies in Jammu and Kashmir over the marriage of Sikh women to Muslim men.
