Srinagar: Police in Jammu and Kashmir have arrested two youths who are believed to have tipped off the army leading to a fake encounter in Sophian district.
Three men who were suspected to be militants were killed in the encounter in Amashipura in July. After protests from their families, DNA samples produced during an investigation revealed they were labourers from Rajouri district and not members of the insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir.
The two youths arrested on Tuesday in Sophian district are residents of Chowgam and Adbal.
An investigation into the fake encounter by the army is continuing.
