Srinagar: Encounter between militants and security forces continued in Kulgam on the second day on Tuesday. Even as the search operation continued, 430 stranded civilians have been evacuated by Kulgam police.
According to sources, 40 vehicles were arranged for the evacuation of civilians by Station House Officers Manzgam Insp Imtiaz and DH Pora Insp Tanveer. Stranded civilians and their kin expressed gratitude to Kulgam police for safely evacuating them.
Senior Superintendent of Police Gurinder Pal Singh said militant identified as LeT commander Amir Ahmad Mir was killed last night. Mir belonged to Checki Cholan in Shopian district and he was active since 2017.
Senior Superintendent Singh said that search operation is continuing in the area.
Following a tip-off on militants presence, security forces launched a cordon and search operation last day which later ended up in the killing of one militant.
