Srinagar: The siege on political leaders currently under detention in Jammu and Kashmir will be lifted in due course based on assessment of the ground situation by the authorities, government said on Friday.
"The governor's administration is reviewing the situation and as soon as situation improves, the decision on the release of political leaders will be considered," Farooq Khan, advisor to J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik said.
Asked about the restoration of mobile phone services in Kashmir Valley, the official said the government is contemplating to restore it soon.
"There will be a good news soon," the official said.
Over 500 important political workers and leaders, including former chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, were detained in Jammu and Kashmir since the Centre decided to revoke provisions of Article 370 and divide the state to two union territories.
Activists across the political spectrum have been detained in Srinagar as well as other parts of the valley.
Omar Abdullah of the National Conference and Mehbooba Mufti of the PDP have been detained at Hari Niwas on Gupkar Road.
The orders of their arrest were issued by the magistrates concerned in view of their activities to disturb peace and tranquillity in the Kashmir valley.
