Pakistan violates ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch

Poonch (Jammu and Kashmir): Pakistan on Thursday initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Shahpur and Kirni sectors of the Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.

The ceasefire violation by Pakistan took place on Thursday at 9:30 am by firing small weapons.

The Indian Army is retaliating.

Earlier, On 30 June 2020, in the morning hours, Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation (CFV) along the LoC in Naugam sector (in north Kashmir's Kupwara district) by firing mortars and other weapons.

Similarly on June 25, Pakistani troops violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Macchil sector of Jammu and Kashmir by firing mortar shells towards Indian positions.

There has been a sharp increase in ceasefire violations along the Line of Control over the past three weeks.

Security officials maintain that Pakistan is resorting to ceasefire violations to provide cover for infiltration of militants into the valley.
