Srinagar: In yet another attempt to increase tensions, Pakistan on Friday violated ceasefire by intense shelling in Boniyar area of Jammu-Kashmir's Baramulla district.
Check posts along the LoC were targetted in the attack.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan had opened fire with small arms and mortars along the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakot sector of Poonch district.
"Pakistan's firing and shelling started at 6:30 am. Indian Army is retaliating befittingly," defence sources said.

Earlier on August 6, the Pakistani army violated the ceasefire in Mandher sector near the Line of Control (LoC) and fired small arms and mortar shells.
On August 5, Pakistan troops started firing with small arms at around 7 pm and shelling with mortars along the LoC in Mankote Sector in Poonch district.
Many houses in Mankot sector were also partially damaged due to the floods.
Since the beginning of this year, Pakistan has violated the ceasefire over 2,720 times, killing 21 civilians and injuring 94 others.
Lives and livelihoods of hundreds of people in border villages along the LoC have been thrown out of gear by the cross-border shelling.
