Srinagar: The Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) leaders held a meeting on Wednesday at former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti’s Gupkar residence. The meeting was chaired by PAGD’s president Dr Farooq Abdullah while Hasnain Masoodi, MY Tarigami, Mehbooba Mufti, Muzaffar Shah and others attended.
The meeting was held by the PAGD members after a gap of about six months.
Addressing the media, PAGD president and NC patron Farooq Abdullah said that there was no change in the stance of PAGD on the declarations made on August 4, 2019. "The alliance will continue to fight for the rights of people," Dr Farooq said after the meeting. He further said that CPI(M) leader MY Tarigami has been appointed as the new spokesperson of the alliance by the members.

Responding to a question regarding his resignation from the Parliament as an MP, he said, "I won't resign. I will douse the flames in the fire. I will fight for my people in Parliament." He further said," Doors of PAGD have and will remain always open for everyone."
Talking about the "rumours" of troop deployment in certain areas of Jammu and Kashmir, the NC leader said, "We have also heard rumours just like you have. We don't know anything more. They do what they want to." Meanwhile, CPI(M) leader Tarigami said that the alliance will leave no stone unturned for the betterment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
PAGD was formed as a conglomerate of political parties in Jammu and Kashmir to fight for the restoration of the pre-August 2019 status of the erstwhile state.
