Srinagar: Taking stock of the prevailing security situation in the Kashmir valley, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval interacted with locals in Shopian and later shared lunch with them.
Doval was seen interacting with a few locals in the shut-down market over food and inquired about their well being. He also explained to them the Centre's decision, assuring them that their welfare was the government's prime concern.
"How is everything? What do you people think?" he asked the group, to which one of the men replied, "Everything is good."
"Yes, everything will be fine. Everyone should live peacefully. Whatever the almighty does is good. Your security and well being is our only concern. We are thinking about the growth and welfare of your generations," he added.
Earlier in the day, Doval met security personnel in Shopian. Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh was also present.
"The whole country is proud of the CRPF. Wherever there is a need, the personnel are deployed and they have always managed the situation well. In Kashmir also we are very proud of your discipline, morale and work ethics," he told the security personnel.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir to take stock of the security situation even as all the three services are on high alert to deal with any fallout of the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories and withdrawal of special status to the state.
In the run-up to the decision to reorganize the state, Doval had reviewed the situation and additional troops were sent to the Kashmir Valley following his meetings with state administration officials. After Doval, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also likely to tour the area.
