Ramanathapuram: Nine men were arrested for trafficking illegal drugs and redwood costing three crores to Sri Lanka via Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu.

Ramanathapuram SP Varunkumar had received a tip-off regarding illegal trafficking of drugs including heroin to Srilanka. Later a team of nine members under the leadership of Thiruvadanai SP Pugazenthi went on a search operation.

Later in Thiruvadanai border, police seized an auto and a two-wheeler and recovered heroin, redwood and arrested nine men who were suspected drug traffickers.

While speaking to the reporters, SP Varunkumar said that the drugs were imported from various countries like Afganisthan and were sent to Srilanka via Ramanathapuram. The drugs could cost more than crores but according to the accused, the value was estimated at Rs 10 crores.
