Militants hurl grenade at police post in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore area

Militants on Sunday hurled a grenade towards a police post in Sopore area of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir. No loss of life or injury has been reported in the incident so far.

Srinagar: Militants on Sunday hurled a grenade towards a police post in Sopore area of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir, an official said.

No loss of life or injury has been reported in the incident so far, he said.

At 9.25 pm, the militants hurled a grenade towards Warpora police post in Sopore area of the north Kashmir district, the official said.

After the explosion, a sentry retaliated by firing a few shots in the air, he added.

Earlier on Saturday, three local militants associated with Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit and an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police, were killed in an encounter between militants and security forces after the ultras fired on a 'naka' party of the forces on the outskirts of the city here.

Director-General of Police Dilbagh Singh after the wreath-laying ceremony of the slain police official said that among the three militants one was active for over a year.
