Anantnag: A policeman was injured when militants fired upon a team of security forces personnel in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday evening, an official said. According to the police, militants fired some shots towards a police party near the Lazibal area of Anantnag at about 8:50 pm.
Police said that a policeman was injured in the firing. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a hunt for the attackers. Further details were awaited.
On June 30, a soldier was injured in an exchange of fire with suspected terrorists near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident took place during the course of a search operation in village Dadal during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, the officials said.

They said a search operation was launched in the village and adjoining areas near the LoC on Tuesday evening following information about the suspicious movement of some armed persons. The group was tracked and an exchange of fire took place, resulting in minor injuries to a soldier, the officials said, adding reinforcements have been rushed and an operation is on to neutralise the terrorists.
Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested an active categorized terrorist of proscribed terror outfit Hizb-ul- Mujahideen (HM) from Frisal area of Kulgam district on May 29. According to an official statement of Jammu and Kashmir Police, during the intervening night of May 27 and May 28, acting on specific information about the presence of terrorists in Kulgam, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Kulgam Police, 1RR (Rashtriya Rifles) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and arrested Zakir Bhat, an active categorized terrorist of HM.

"Investigations reveal that Zakir Bhat is basically a resident of Kulgam district and living in Shopian for the last eight years. Incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition, have also been recovered from his possession. In this regard, a case has been registered and further investigation is in progress," police said.
Jammu and Kashmir police on June 28 claimed that they have arrested a top Lashkar-e-Toiba commander in Srinagar who was wanted in several cases. Inspector-General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar said the arrest was 'a big success' for the police. Police sources said Abrar and his associates were travelling in a car bearing the number JK 05E 5646 when police swooped on them at the National Highway Crossing at Primpora on the outskirts of Srinagar. Police sources said that Abrar was involved in an attack on the CRPF in Lawaypora in which three personnel were killed. He has been active since December 2018 and was wanted in many militancy related incidents, sources said.
