Jammu: Former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta on Wednesday said that the Mehbooba Mufti led People's Democratic Party (PDP) is losing its strength day by day in the state.
"For the last six months, all the major faces of PDP have left the party," he said.
Intensifying his attack on PDP, the former deputy CM said that during the PDP-BJP tenure, PDP did not adhere to the Agenda of Alliance.
The PDP and BJP had entered into a "Governance Alliance" in 2015 based on an agreement and agenda which was an effort towards seeking a national reconciliation on J&K.
Talking about Mehbooba Mufti, Kavinder said, "She is the same person who is supporting Hurriyat and raising slogans demanding revocation of the ban and release of Jamaat leaders while during her tenure, she was the one to make the "toffee" remark."
The BJP leader was referring to a press conference held jointly by Mehbooba Mufti and home minister Rajnath Singh in August 2016 where she ended up losing her composure and said that ''those killed in Kashmir hadn't gone to buy milk and toffee."
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Kavinder said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have made up their mind to vote for BJP again in the coming elections to strengthen the party.
Criticizing the Congress, NC and PDP government, Kavinder said that the three formed alliance out of frustration as they had no issues to face the public.
"Every citizen of the state is aware of the real face of these parties," he said cautioning people against the "false propaganda".
The Congress and the NC had announced a pre-poll alliance last week with the Congress fielding candidates from two seats of Jammu division.
The PDP on the other hand, decided unilaterally not to field any candidate from Jammu and Udhampur constituencies to ensure that the "secular votes are not divided".
Kavinder said that the position of BJP in the valley is strengthening day by day.
"Even in South Kashmir, which is considered to be a militancy hub, BJP is getting positive response from there as well."
