Srinagar: A massive landslide hit Bonbagh area of Ganderbal district in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, affecting the road connectivity to Ladakh as the Srinagar-Leh highway was blocked.
Police said that the landslide hit the Srinagar-Leh highway at Bonbagh village, 36 kilometres from Srinagar.
The landslide damaged as many as 16 shops and a house, police said.
"One residential house and 16 shops were damaged by the landslide that also blocked the Srinagar-Leh highway. Fortunately, no casualty occurred due to landslide. Men and machinery have been pressed into action to clear the landslide and resume traffic on the highway," police said.
