'Mann Ki Baat': PM Modi all praise for J&K's pencil factory owner

Pulwama (Jammu and Kashmir): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday in the 'Maan Ki Baat' programme spoke about Manzoor Ahmed from the Akhoo Kakapora area of ​​Pulwama district, who makes pencil slate in Akhoo Kakapora. In the 100th episode of 'Mann Ki Baat', Modi spoke to the pencil factory owner, Manzoor Ahmed, over the phone and praised him for his work.

The Akhoo village of Pulwama district, which has been given the title of Pencil village by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has many industrial centres where thousands of educated youth are getting employment. However, there is a need to further promote these industrial centres from which more and more educated youth of the Valley can get employment. Akhoo village or Pencil village is the only village in the whole country from where the raw material of pencils used all over the world is produced. Local and non-local youths are getting employment from such factories.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, the manager of the factory, Farooq Ahmed, said, "We are very happy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has supported us and spoken to the owner of the factory, who is a source of pride for us. We are providing employment to around 200 youths, some of whom are highly educated." He also mentioned that the factory is located in rural areas where power cuts are quite frequent, which affects our work.

On the occasion of the 100th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Mann Ki Baat" radio broadcast the BJP's Jammu and Kashmir unit organised special programmes across the Union Territory to facilitate people to listen to the broadcast on Sunday. The programme was organised at 5,000 booths and was attended by lakhs of people.
