Situation in J-K peaceful, no untoward incident in last one week: state police
The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday night said that the situation in the state was peaceful and no untoward incident has been reported in last one week.
"There has been no untoward incident barring minor stone-pelting which was dealt with on the spot and was nipped in the bud," Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh told the media.
He was asked about the situation in the state after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi told mediapersons in New Delhi that situation was "very wrong".
Minutes after Gandhi made the statement, the Srinagar Police also tweeted that the situation was peaceful.
"Situation in valley has remained normal today. No untoward incident has been reported. At selective locations restriction was lifted temporarily," the tweet said.

Kashmir Times editor moves SC seeking removal of restrictions journalists in J&K
Anuradha Bhasin, Executive Editor of Kashmir Times - a prominent daily from Jammu and Kashmir- has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking removal of restrictions imposed on working of journalists in the Union Territory after scrapping provisions of Article 370.
Bhasin has sought directions for restoration of all modes of communication to enable the media to function in Jammu and Kashmir.
The editor in the petition said she is seeking a direction from the Centre and the administration of Jammu and Kashmir to immediately relax all restrictions on freedom of movement of journalists and media personnel in Kashmir and some districts of Jammu.
The direction was sought in order to enable media professionals to practise their profession and exercise their right to report in furtherance of their rights under Article 14, 19 (1) (a) and 19 (1) (g) and 21 of the Constitution as well as the right to know of the residents of the Kashmir Valley, the petition said.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Saturday refuted a Reuters report on protests in Kashmir due to modification of Article 370 and called it "fabricated" and "incorrect".
In a statement, an MHA spokesperson said that the reports of protest involving 10,000 people in Srinagar was completely incorrect.
"There are media reports claiming there was a protest involving 10,000 people in Srinagar. This is completely fabricated and incorrect. There have been a few stray protests in Srinagar/Baramulla and none involved a crowd of more than 20 people," the spokesperson said.
Earlier, Reuters had reported that at least 10,000 people had protested in Srinagar on Friday, according to a police official and two witnesses said.A large group of people gathered in Srinagar's Soura area, a police officer said, in violation of orders that prohibit the assembly of more than four people, Reuters had reported.
The crowd was pushed back by police at Aiwa bridge, where a witness said tear gas and pellets were used against them. "Some women and children even jumped into the water," a witness said at Srinagar's Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, where pellet victims were admitted.
"There were around 10,000 people at the protest in Soura," the police officer said. "This was the biggest so far."
On Friday, the administration in Jammu and Kashmir had eased prohibitory orders to allow Friday prayers in local mosques and for people to make arrangements for Monday's Eid celebrations.
The administration has lifted prohibitory orders from Jammu region, and asked schools to reopen from Saturday.
Jammu and Kashmir was put under complete lockdown on August 11, a day before the government of India revoked Article 370 that gave special status to the state.

According to officials, the NSA stopped at a cattle market set up in Anantnag-- a hotbed of terrorist activities.
In a video circulated on social media, Doval can be heard enquiring about the price, weight and diet of the cattle--mostly sheep on sale at the market.

Prohibitory orders lifted in five JK districts
Prohibitory orders under CrPC section 144 were lifted in five districts and curfew was relaxed in Doda and Kishtwar districts, paving the way for resumption of normal activities in the state.
All schools and colleges reopened in five districts of the Jammu region, besides increase in attendance in government offices.
Restrictions, however, continued to be in place in Poonch, Rajouri and Ramban districts, the officials said.
The administrations of 10 districts in the Jammu region had imposed prohibitory orders under CrPC Section 144 on August 5 in view of the Centre's move.

Srinagar: The restriction imposed in the state of Jammu and Kashmir was eased and Section 144 lifted, in municipal units of Jammu, as normalcy returns to the valley.
Schools also reopened in Jammu and Kashmir as the situation remains normal after the curfew was revoked on Friday.
Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind had given his assent to The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act,2019 and the region of Ladakh and JK will become Union Territories on October 31st.

Kashmir has been on lockdown since Sunday and all communication services in the region have been blocked, including cellular network, landline, mobile internet, and broadband connectivity.
Parliament had approved a resolution abrogating special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution and a Bill for splitting the state into two Union Territories.
Meanwhile, NSA Ajit Doval was seen interacting with a few locals in the Kashmir Valley, during his visit to Jammu and Kashmir to take stock of the security situation.
