Kulgam: A fire in a government school building here sent the locals into a state of panic.
Locals in the Vattu region of south Kashmir noticed flames coming out from the Government Higher Secondary School building on Tuesday night.
The blazing flames led to chaos in the area as the locals attempted to douse the fire.
The fire in the school building was doused by security forces.
Meanwhile, the security forces arrived on the spot and helped them extinguish it.
The local police suspect militant activity behind the fire.
"We suspect militants to be behind this fire, they might have done it to create fear among the locals," an official said.
Further investigation in the matter is underway.
