Srinagar: General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps Lieutenant General BS Raju on Monday said that the army will go tough against the gun-wielding youth in Kashmir but will facilitate the return of those who want to shun the path.
"There is a beautiful environment prevailing in the Valley at present. Kashmir is on the right track. I appeal to youth who are ready to shun militancy to return to their homes as the environment is favourable for them for starting a peaceful and dignified life," GOC 15 Corps Lt Gen BS Raju, said while talking to reporters on the sidelines of Yusmarg festival in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
He further said, "I appeal local militants to switch-off the path of militancy, otherwise whosoever will contest army with a weapon in his hand will be dealt hard-heartedly."
Interestingly last Thursday, GOC Kilo Force Major General HS Sahi had claimed that the Army had sent its recommendations to the Centre regarding surrender cum rehabilitation policy for the militants however there was no final draft ready yet.

Speaking about the situation in south Kashmir, he said, "The overall situation in Kashmir valley is peaceful. Militancy related activities have declined as compared to the past. Youth have started to concentrate on their future as many have shined in professional examinations recently which is a good sign of the situation. The situation in southern parts of Kashmir including Kulgam, Anantnag, Pulwama and Shopian districts is normal. Economic activities are picking up there. Apple trade is also picking. If Covid-19 subsides, I am sure schools will also re-open there."
"The army has been able to plug the infiltration (from across the border) to a large extent. Ahead of snowfall and winter, the attempts may increase, but our men are maintaining a tight vigil to foil all bids,” he added.
