Srinagar: Two days after being questioned the Enforcement Directorate, National Conference president and Member Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah was again on Wednesday grilled for around five hours over the alleged fund scam in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. On October 19, he was questioned by the agency for a marathon of six hours.

After hours of questioning, Abdullah looked relaxed but avoided speaking to the media over the development. Meanwhile, the National Conference passed a resolution condemning vindictive action against Dr Farooq Abdullah.

"Party's General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar presided over an extraordinary meeting at Party Head Quarters Nawa- e- Subha, Srinagar which culminated with the passing of the resolution, the party said in a statement, adding, "On the occasion, the leaders unanimously passed a resolution strongly condemning the vindictive/ coercive action against party president Dr Farooq Abdullah."

Party’s Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Senior Leaders Muhammad Shafi Uri, Members of Parliament Muhammad Akbar Lone, Hasnain Masoodi; Mian Altaf Ahmed, Mubarak Gul, Mir Saifullah, Central Secretary Irfan Shah, Central Zone President Ali Muhammad Dar, South Zone president Dr Bahir Ahmed Veeri, YNC Provincial President Salman Ali Sagar, Syed Tauqeer, Peer Muhammad Hussain were present in the meeting.

“We stand fully with our leader and his unity mission in J&K. Our resolve to fight for the rights of people of J&K is undeterred by such action,” the resolution read. Earlier in the day, the party had expressed 'anger and lambasted the government for its agenda of cornering any voice of dissent.' "This is aimed at curtailing Dr Farooq's efforts to weave unity among mainstream political parties in J&K," the party spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar while terming these ED summons calculated coercive measures.

He said, "What is it that ED forgot to ask during the six hours it interrogated an 83-yr-old Member of Parliament? The government and its agencies have no consideration for a law-abiding citizen who is severely immunocompromised and diabetic." "Dr Abdullah being treated like this is a proof that the BJP is not even interested in a face-saving act and is completely comfortable with being seen as a bully by the nation," he said.

“How many times will BJP use CBI, ED, anti-corruption Bureau and its other agencies to browbeat opposition? The plot has become predictable. Anyone who speaks against the government or musters courage against its divisive politics will be hounded and summoned,” he added. “The only way to get a clean chit these days is to surrender one's ideology and join the BJP. We’ve seen this story play out from Assam to Karnataka, from West Bengal to Andhra Pradesh but Dr Abdullah is not going to surrender to the BJP, come what may.”
