Sons of late Kashmiri separatist leader arrested

Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested the sons of late Kashmiri separatist leader Ashraf Khan Sehrai who died on May 5 while being detained under the Public Safety Act.

Srinagar: Days after the death of Kashmiri separatist leader Ashraf Khan Sehrai, the Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday night arrested his two sons.

Sehrai passed away at the Government Medical College in Jammu on May 5 while being imprisoned under Public Safety Act (PSA).

Mujahid Sehrai and Raashid Sehrai were arrested from their residence at Srinagar's Baghat area.

"Police personnel from Kupwara along with Srinagar police took both sons into custody and later took them to Kupwara," a family member said.

Although police didn't divulge any details for the arrest of Mujahid and Raashid, officials close to the development claim "the duo have been arrested in connection with a case registered against them on May 6 at the police station in Kupwara's Tekkipora-Sogam.

"On May 6, some people raised provocative slogans and the video went viral on social media. Accordingly, a case was registered against 20 people," the official said.
