Jammu: The Jammu-Srinagar national highway was closed on Tuesday following fresh landslides in Ramban district, the traffic department said.

The landslides hit Digdol area after which the traffic was halted. “Landslide debris clearance operation is under way and the highway is likely to be restored to traffic in the afternoon,” a traffic official said.

“No vehicle will be allowed to move on the highway either from Udhampur or the Banihal side unless the road is declared safe for passage,” he added.

The highway had remained closed for two days last week due to a massive landslide in the same area.
