Kashmir: A major fire burnt down a government primary school in the Amar Bagh Imam Sahib in Shopian district in south Kashmir to ashes on Thursday.
The fire and emergency department officials were unable to reach the school as roads were blocked by snow.
According to locals, the fire broke out at around 6.45 pm at the school that is located about half a kilometre from the local settlement.
They also added that due to the shortage of water in the area they failed to put out the fire.

The cause of the fire could not be ascertained.
Earlier on 21 January, a fire broke out in a government medal school in Nadi Gam area of Shopian district.
The middle school building was also badly damaged, but there was no electricity at the school and the cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
