Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): Unidentified militants on Friday shot dead a non-local labourer in south Kashmir's Nehama area of Kulgam district. This was the second militant attack of the day in the district, informed an official.

"A non-local labourer was shot dead by unidentified militants at Nehama. The labourer has been identified as Shankar Choudhary from Bihar, who was critically injured during the attack and succumbed on the way to the hospital," a senior police official said. He further said, "This is the second militant attack of the day in the district. The area has been cordoned and the searches have been intensified to nab the attackers."

Earlier, a police constable Bantu Sharma was shot dead by unidentified militants near Shamford School at the Wanpoh area of the district. The attacks come three days after three civilians were injured after unidentified militants hurled a grenade towards a police vehicle at south Kashmir's Pulwama district.
