J&K: Hizbul militant nabbed in Budgam district

Militant Showkat Ahmad Tantary has been arrested from J&K. He is an active member of the Hizbul Mujahideen militant group. The police are investigating his involvement in terrorist activities.

Srinagar: A Hizbul Mujahideen militant was arrested on Wednesday with arms and ammunition from the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Showkat Ahmad Tantary, a resident of Warpora area in Kulgam district, was arrested from Qazipora area of the central Kashmir district," a police officer said.

According to police records, Tantary was affiliated to the proscribed terror outfit.

Police have registered a case at Chadoora police station. The arms and ammunition recovered from his possession have been put into case records and an investigation is underway to ascertain his complicity in any other terrorist activity.
