Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir): A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel was seriously injured after he allegedly shot himself with a service rifle in his unit in Srinagar district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Friday.
"Today morning, constable Parveen Munda of CRPF's 61 Battalion shot himself with his service rifle at his unit in Srinagar's Dalgate area. He was immediately shifted to the 92 base Hospital for treatment," a CRPF spokesperson said.
"On hearing the gunshots, panic gripped the unit and when the jawans rushed to the barrack they found Munda in a pool of blood," the spokesperson said.
Without divulging any further details, the official said the investigations are underway in this regard.
Meanwhile, police sources have claimed that the personnel was upset for the past some time due to his personal issues.
