Last evening, mobile internet services were restored in all the districts of the valley, except Budgam and Srinagar, five days after the death of senior Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. On Monday, the IGP had informed that a decision would be taken to restore mobile internet in Budgam and Srinagar only after a security review on Monday.

It is to be noted that after the death of senior separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir suspended all communication systems as a precautionary measure. However, broadband internet and mobile calling services were gradually restored.
Additionally, the administration has also issued orders to restore rail services in the valley. Train services were suspended in the wake of Geelani's death on September 1.
