Kulgam (Jammu & Kashmir): Inspector-General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar along with other police officials on Friday visited YK Pora area in Kulgam district where three BJP workers, including a local youth wing leader, were on Thursday killed in a terror attack.
Three BJP workers have been identified as Fida Hussain, Umer Hajam and Umer Rashid Beigh were shot dead by militants.
"Preliminary investigation revealed that terrorists fired on three BJP workers. They were shifted to a nearby hospital where all were declared brought dead," Kumar said.
"The police have lodged a case in the incident. An investigation is in progress and officers are establishing the circumstances of this terror crime. Preliminary investigation suggests that the militants of the Lashkar-e-Taiba involved in this case." he said.
"We are suspecting that LeT used some local militants. The names of LeT militants, a local militant from Dooru, Nisar Khanday; and Abbas from Khudwani who was previously associated with HM (Hizbul Mujahideen) and is now with LeT and also claims to be from TRF, are cropping up. The involvement of these two is there, but there may be an FT (foreign terrorist) involved as well (in the attack)," he said.
"We are investigating what they were doing in a car in an area far away from home. There is a chance that it was a pre-planned attack and will soon solve it. The security forces will neutralise them soon," he added.
Meanwhile, IGP Kumar appealed to the protected persons in the valley not to move around without their security.
