Ramban (Jammu and Kashmir): Three minors left orphaned in Ramban are being taken care of by a Muslim man for the past two years.
Munshi Ram Baghat, who lived in a remote area of Sangaldan in Ramban, died two years ago leaving his three children — two daughters and a son behind. His wife had already passed away some 7 years ago. Their eldest son lives with his in-laws at their home.
When Baghat died, there was nobody left in the family to take care of the kids and that is when a local Muslim man took their responsibility. A driver by profession, Farooq Ahmed has now been taking care of the three like his own for the last two years.

Talking with ETV Bharat, Baghat's 15-year-old daughter said that they somehow managed to admit the youngest two siblings into a school and other local people also help them while Farooq Ahmed takes care of most of their expenses. "We have got no help from the administration. We live in a mud house and our elder brother instead of helping us, comes here often and beats us up. He asks us to vacate this house so that he can sell the land," she said.
The locals and shopkeeper said that the Muslim driver has been taking care of these kids for 2 years now. Shabir Ahmed, a local shopkeeper said, "Farooq gives me monthly Rs 3000 - 4000 for these kids so that they can buy whatever is required."
He said other locals also help the kids in whatever way they can but it's the Muslim driver who runs their house. The orphan kids have several times approached the local administration for help but nothing has been done for them so far.
