Srinagar: Hours after the militant attack in Srinagar's Nowgam area, Inspector-General of Police (Kashmir range) Vijay Kumar claimed that four Lashkar-e-Toiba militants were involved.

"During the analyses of the CCTV footage of the attack, we found out that one burqa-clad militant knocks the main door. As soon as the door is opened two militants started firing indiscriminately while the fourth one decamps with a rifle," the IGP said on the sidelines of the wreath-laying ceremony of slain cop Rameez Raja.

Raja was posted as a guard outside the resident residence of BJP leader Anwar Khan.

He further said," initially we thought that the burqa-clad attacker was a female but after investigation, it became clear that he was a militant posing as a woman. He had tricked sentry on duty by changing his voice."

"Two of the four militants involved in the attack have been identified as Shahid Khursheed and Ubaid Shafi. Both are residents of Srinagar and are associated with LeT," he said, adding that the identities of two others are yet to be ascertained.
